Peace Reign Mandala Umbrella

Forecast Public Art, an 'umbrella' organization, is having a fundraiser where they are selling artist created umbrellas, on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at the historic Union Depot in downtown St. Paul, MN.

I ran into Jack Becker, the Executive Director of Forecast at Art at St Kate's. I was involved with Forecast some 30 years ago so it was great to reconnect and he invited me to participate in creating an umbrella. I spent the better part of a week being challenged and expanded while having lots of fun.

This is the umbrella that I created. It incorporates the prayer flags that I have been making, my love of painting and a mandala, representing the universe and for me the oneness of everything.

Creative & Practical Use of Vintage Linens

The bathroom windows in the ArtBarn needed covering and I had been saving some old family linens & this is what resulted.
I ended up covering the fluorescent fixtures in Shelley's office too. I smile every time I see them... Joy in the everyday.
Florescent light cover made from old family linens.

These pieces were all made from antique family linens that were too wonderful to give away but too labor intensive to use daily.
